Commentary: Engage or disengage? Interpretations from a resource conservation perspective

Abstract In this commentary, I discuss the eight empirical contributions to Motivation and Emotion special issue on goal disengagement from a resource conservation perspective. This process was not in focus of reported studies, but is central for understanding both engaging disengaging. will outline that many new findings are highly compatible with predictions research motivational intensity theory. Examples roles commitment, subjective value, affective experiences, autonomy, self-awareness, action planning. These variables have been found be engagement their consideration mobilization perspective should contribute more complete “letting go”.
